This incredible find fueled Peter’s passion to encounter this elusive creature again, which can only be found at extreme depths. Unfortunately, the pursuit of this extraordinary fish has claimed the lives of divers who ventured too deep into the watery abyss. Tragically, in June 2014, Peter and his diving partner, Adele Stegen, drowned off the coast of KwaZulu-Natal while attempting to retrieve camera equipment that had fallen into the ocean.
Despite this heartbreaking loss, Peter’s legacy lives on at Triton Dive Lodge, now managed by Eve Marshall (Peter’s fiancée at the time) and Rolleen.
